My first 4 freewrites {letters from london}
8 05 2008Ok, so I haven’t really written in a loooooonnnnnggggg time, for the main reason of laziness, but here is my first four freewrites. I’m writing a story about a boy and a girl who are secretly in love with eachother. The girl’s mom becomes pregnant and they move to London, England from Manchester, New Hampshire. The girl and the boy communicate through letters. My story is called Letters from London.

Chloe sat down with her friends at the lunch table. Abbie was telling a story about how her cat jumped in the washer while she was watching American Idol, but Chloe wasn’t listening. Tara and Chase were holding hands under the table while security passed by, trying not to get caught for PDA. They really were a cute couple, Chloe thought. Zoe and Trina were exchanging lunches while arguing about Gossip Girl. Chloe snapped back to reality when she saw James, the boy she had been in love with since she was seven when he caught her after she fell off the monkey bars. He took the seat next to her and asked her what she did that weekend. Chloe responded, “N-not much, just hung out with Bella. How about you?” she asked back. James said, “Same. I went to the movies with Bretton and —Zoe and Trina’s argument had turned into shouting. “SERENA AND BLAIR ARE FRIENDS NOW!” “NO THEY AREN’T, WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABO–…” were soon the only sounds to be heard coming from the cafeteria. They stopped shouting abruptly, because laughter had taken the place of the yelling. Chloe got back to her conversation with James.
“My parents said that they had some really important news to tell me. I have no clue what it is, though.” James said, “That’s cool. Anyways, after the movie, I went home and I slept. Pretty interesting weekend, huh? Well, tomorrow is
Tara’s birthday party, and you better be there. I’ll see you then, okay?”“Alright.” Chloe said, a second too late.

I got home at 3:17, just like every other day of my high school life. This was not just another day, though. Not. Even. Close. My parents were sitting on the couch with that something’s-wrong-but-I’m-hiding-it-with-this-big-smile smile. My mom started off with the first bomb. “Chloe, honey, sit down. You know that thing we wanted to tell you? Well… Um… Robert, do you want to tell her?” “No, we agreed you would tell her”, my dad said.
“TELL ME ALREADY!” I said. My mom said slowly, “Honey, I’m pregnant.”
I was in shock for about, 30 seconds, but after, I started hugging my mom and saying, “Oh my gosh! I hope it’s a girl!” Then my dad dropped the second bomb. “Chloe, that isn’t it. I also got a job that requires us to move… to
England.” More shock. I was excited, because I was ready for a new experience, but what about James? And Bella? And Trina and Zoe and Chase and Tara? I started crying tears of joy and sadness. I got my sobs under control and asked when we moved. “Next Wednesday”, my mom said. Before I started crying more, I ran to the room I had had for my whole life. My whole life was here. I couldn’t leave! I just couldn’t!

I walked home that day, when I got a call on my phone. It was Chloe. The girl I wanted to be with for the rest of my life. Ever since she shared her juice with me in 1st grade, I knew it was meant to be. I answered and all I heard was a loud crying noise. Then I heard Chloe say that she was moving. To
England. My heart sunk as I heard her explain the story. We talked for 153 minutes and 48 seconds (a new record!) and decided that we would send letters to keep in touch. If I begged my parents… they might let me visit
England over winter break. I wish this wasn’t happening… I was going to ask her out at
Tara’s birthday party.
#3Dear James, I had my first fish and chips today. Everyone here is so nice and they talk in these funny accents. I start school in the fall. Hopefully people will like me, even if I have to wear a hideous school uniform. I thought of you when I saw the flat we are staying in. It has the same style as your house, right down to the zebra couch and the copper flecks in the kitchen counter. I really wish I was back in
Manchester. All it does is rain here. At least there is snow in NH!! Well, write back soon!ChloeDear Chloe,School just let out for the summer, and I wish that you could have been there for the food fight. I know you love an adventure. Well, Chase threw a hamburger at Christian, but it hit
Tara in the face. I laughed so hard… but anyway, I’ll keep you updated on everything going on here in little old
Manchester. Have a jolly good time in
England! Ha… that sounded so lame.James
#4 Dear James,I’ve made some new friends in
London. You would like Skye. She is so funny, nice, and loves scary movies. Another great thing about
London is the clothes! If I thought Hollister was nice, the clothes here are amazing! Well, my mom and I are going to shop for baby clothes. Only 6 months to go! I hope you can come over Winter break. Write soon!Dear Chloe,It’s been unusually hot this summer in NH. Bella says hi and wants to know if there are any cute guys in
London. I had a good idea. We should get a webcam so we can talk face to face… sort of. I asked my dad about coming to
London, and he said………. maybe. Pray for me!
James
