honest to blog?

5 06 2008

PART 1

Well, hope you liked my story, sorry the end was kind of rushed. SOMEBODY rushed me. (ahem, ahem, Mr. Mayo) Just kidding. Well, honestly, the blog was fun and all, but i just feel like with me doing the Communication Arts Program next year, I won’t be able to keep up with it. Sorry…

PART 2

Well, it’s been a good year but school now comes to a close. Nobody left me any comments, but it’s all good. I won’t be using the blog next year, but I might get a new one, who knows. If I do, no one will probably look at it anyway… My favorite thing about the blogs was my friend and I’s blog names. (Check out Later Gator) It was so much fun coming up with cool names for eachother like crazy and awesome. I loved the blog, but I know I won’t use it, so I’m better off without it.

letters from london… part 5 and 6.

4 06 2008

yep… It’s almost over. Today, my story will end. *tear tear*

#5

Dear James,
I asked my parents about a webcam… they said no. Whatever, I still like letters. Winter break is coming! Only 1 more month! Please come and bring Bella, too. If you can… Oh, by the way, I really miss the weather in New Hampshire. All it ever does here is rain, rain, rain, rain, rain. I also wish I had you guys. My mom is like 7 months pregnant right now, and if I want to talk to her, I have to get whatever she’s craving first. A BIG pain. I can’t wait for her to have her baby and I hope it’s a girl. I always wanted a sister! One more thing before I go. My school, The Knightsbridge Preparatory School, is actually not that bad. I’ve made a couple of friends and I get to wear this cute uniform. You would like my new friend Brannen. He is so funny, just like you! I have to go get my mom some yogurt coverd pizza. EW!

Missing NH,

Chloe

Dear Chloe,

Great News! My dad said that I could go over winter break {which is only 2 weeks away} and I could bring one friend! Of course I will bring Bella for you. It snowed today, so much for warm weather! I hope it will finally get cold enough for the rain in London to turn to snow, cuz I know how much you love it. I can’t wait to see you and your mom! But I’m not giving her any yogurt covered pizza. Haha!

See you soon,

James

James

Bella and  got off of the plane and cringed when they felt the harsh wind and rain that Chloe had been complaining about. I told Bella Chloe’s address and we went up to her flat, right in the middle of downtown London. Geez, I thought, she’s living pretty nice. I had gotten her a picture of me and a puppy for Christmas. {I already talked to her parents, they said it was okay} There it is… I’m going to tell her my feelings tonight.

Chloe

I must of spent, like 3 hours getting ready, and I’m so excited. I got Bella this purse that she really liked in this British magazine and I got James a whole bunch of British candy that he loves. I also got him a picture of me, with a note tucked inside that tells him how I really feel. I;m so excited! Oh my god, they’re here!

As James knocked on Chloe’s door, he knew that she liked her. He thought that she probably knew he liked her, too. Chloe answered the door and gave James a big hug. Then she did the same to Bella. They had dinner and talked, but the best thing came after. Chloe gave James and Bella their presents, and they gave Chloe theirs. When Chloe got the puppy, she screamed and got up to hug James. “Thank you so much! I always wanted a puppy! I’m going to name her Alanna! Oh my god,  thank you so much!” Bella loved the purse and James loved the candy and picture. Later that night, Chloe and James went outside on the balcony of the flat. It was a beautiful night. Chloe started. Chloe, I lo– Chloe kissed him. Once they were done, James said, “–ve you”

They lived happily ever after.

My first 4 freewrites {letters from london}

8 05 2008

Ok, so I haven’t really written in a loooooonnnnnggggg time,  for the main reason of laziness, but here is my first four freewrites. I’m writing a story about a boy and a girl who are secretly in love with eachother. The girl’s mom becomes pregnant and they move to London, England from Manchester, New Hampshire. The girl and the boy communicate through letters. My story is called Letters from London.

#1

Chloe sat down with her friends at the lunch table. Abbie was telling a story about how her cat jumped in the washer while she was watching American Idol, but Chloe wasn’t listening. Tara and Chase were holding hands under the table while security passed by, trying not to get caught for PDA. They really were a cute couple, Chloe thought. Zoe and Trina were exchanging lunches while arguing about Gossip Girl. Chloe snapped back to reality when she saw James, the boy she had been in love with since she was seven when he caught her after she fell off the monkey bars. He took the seat next to her and asked her what she did that weekend. Chloe responded, “N-not much, just hung out with Bella. How about you?” she asked back. James said, “Same. I went to the movies with Bretton and —Zoe and Trina’s argument had turned into shouting. “SERENA AND BLAIR ARE FRIENDS NOW!” “NO THEY AREN’T, WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABO–…” were soon the only sounds to be heard coming from the cafeteria. They stopped shouting abruptly, because laughter had taken the place of the yelling. Chloe got back to her conversation with James.

“My parents said that they had some really important news to tell me. I have no clue what it is, though.” James said, “That’s cool. Anyways, after the movie, I went home and I slept. Pretty interesting weekend, huh? Well, tomorrow is
Tara’s birthday party, and you better be there. I’ll see you then, okay?”

“Alright.” Chloe said, a second too late.

CHLOE

I got home at 3:17, just like every other day of my high school life. This was not just another day, though. Not. Even. Close. My parents were sitting on the couch with that something’s-wrong-but-I’m-hiding-it-with-this-big-smile smile. My mom started off with the first bomb. “Chloe, honey, sit down. You know that thing we wanted to tell you? Well… Um… Robert, do you want to tell her?” “No, we agreed you would tell her”, my dad said.

“TELL ME ALREADY!” I said. My mom said slowly, “Honey, I’m pregnant.”

I was in shock for about, 30 seconds, but after, I started hugging my mom and saying, “Oh my gosh! I hope it’s a girl!” Then my dad dropped the second bomb. “Chloe, that isn’t it. I also got a job that requires us to move… to
England.” More shock. I was excited, because I was ready for a new experience, but what about James? And Bella? And Trina and Zoe and Chase and Tara? I started crying tears of joy and sadness. I got my sobs under control and asked when we moved. “Next Wednesday”, my mom said.

Before I started crying more, I ran to the room I had had for my whole life. My whole life was here. I couldn’t leave! I just couldn’t!

JAMES

I walked home that day, when I got a call on my phone. It was Chloe. The girl I wanted to be with for the rest of my life. Ever since she shared her juice with me in 1st grade, I knew it was meant to be. I answered and all I heard was a loud crying noise. Then I heard Chloe say that she was moving. To
England. My heart sunk as I heard her explain the story. We talked for 153 minutes and 48 seconds (a new record!) and decided that we would send letters to keep in touch. If I begged my parents… they might let me visit
England over winter break. I wish this wasn’t happening… I was going to ask her out at
Tara’s birthday party.

#3Dear James,                                                                                                 I had my first fish and chips today. Everyone here is so nice and they talk in these funny accents. I start school in the fall. Hopefully people will like me, even if I have to wear a hideous school uniform. I thought of you when I saw the flat we are staying in. It has the same style as your house, right down to the zebra couch and the copper flecks in the kitchen counter. I really wish I was back in
Manchester. All it does is rain here. At least there is snow in NH!! Well, write back soon!Chloe

Dear Chloe,School just let out for the summer, and I wish that you could have been there for the food fight. I know you love an adventure. Well, Chase threw a hamburger at Christian, but it hit
Tara in the face. I laughed so hard… but anyway, I’ll keep you updated on everything going on here in little old
Manchester. Have a jolly good time in
England! Ha… that sounded so lame.

James

#4 Dear James,I’ve made some new friends in
London. You would like Skye. She is so funny, nice, and loves scary movies. Another great thing about
London is the clothes! If I thought Hollister was nice, the clothes here are amazing! Well, my mom and I are going to shop for baby clothes. Only 6 months to go! I hope you can come over Winter break. Write soon!

Dear Chloe,It’s been unusually hot this summer in NH. Bella says hi and wants to know if there are any cute guys in
London. I had a good idea. We should get a webcam so we can talk face to face… sort of. I asked my dad about coming to
London, and he said………. maybe. Pray for me!

SIX BOXES of Frederick Douglass {son}

19 03 2008

1. When Frederick was born, he was separated from his mother and his father was unknown. His mother visited him in the night, but died shortly after he was 7. {pg. 20}

2. On page 43, Douglass goes to Baltimore to serve Ms. Auld, a nice woman. (see below) This played a big part in Douglass’ life because if he didn’t go to Baltimore, he would never escape and he might be dead or being whipped badly.

3. Ms. Auld, a nice, bright, educated woman when Frederick meets her, turns hard, mean and cruel under slavery. The reason why she is important is because she taught Frederick to read and write. {47}

4. On page 57, he talks about how he learned to read and write. This is probably the most important event in his life. If he hadn’t learned how to read and write, he wouldn’t have made this book and nobody would know about him.

5. Captain Anthony dies, leaving half of his estate to Lucretia and the other half to Andrew, his daughter and son. All the slaves are valued and luckily, Douglass gets Lucretia {Andrew was a cruel drunkard}. Both of them die shortly after and Douglass is sent to St. Michaels.

6. His new master, Mr. Covey, is a cruel man who doesn’t give his slaves enough to eat. Douglass, sent to get wood, loses his ox one day and it takes him a while to get out. He is beaten and whipped by Mr. Covey harshly.

MINI COMMENT FOR COMMENT-A-THON.

7 03 2008

MINI-ESSAYIn
Darfur, over 1,000 people are being displaced from their homes every day. People are being killed, women are being raped, and villages are being burned down.Last year, the death count was estimated to be over 450,000 and over 2.5 million people were displaced from their homes. The Sudanese government has ordered militia men called the “Janjaweed” {devils on horseback} to kill the
Darfur people. Many people are hungry and dying. As bad as this sounds, I don’t think the
USA should send troops there.           In the
USA we already have problems like immigration, the real estate market, and the global warming issue. If we send troops to Darfur, what happened in Iraq will happen in
Darfur. We might get attacked, and we already know what that looks like. I know this isn’t what my teacher wants to hear, but right now I don’t think Darfur is a priority in
America, and I think it should stay that way for now.  Once our problems are sorted out, and we are out of
Iraq, we should go and help out. Right now I don’t feel like it is our responsibility to go there.          I am not compassion-less, but I think that this is an issue between China and
Darfur alone. If the Sudanese government changes, great things could happen and
America doesn’t have to get involved.

Please comment in our comment-a-thon. You can help spread awareness without violence. THANK YOU TO ALL.

Does this sound good?

March 6th. Be there. Online.

28 02 2008

What if you were moved from your home? What if your husband was killed and your wife was raped? You would want to do something about it, right? Well, in Darfur, that is what’s happening and the time to help is now. It was 5 years ago when the UN said they would resolve the problem of the Sudanese and the Janjaweed. BUT NOTHING HAS HAPPENED. On March 6th, manyvoicesdarfur.blogspot.com will be having a COMMENT-A-THON to raise awareness to help save Darfur. We really need your help to save people in need. In recent news, hundreds of thousands of children do not recieve an education. With your comments, we could really help people. DO WHAT IS RIGHT! DO WHAT YOUR MOTHER WOULD WANT YOU TO DO! DO IT FOR JUSTICE AND LOVE!

darfur {press release and olympics news}

15 02 2008

MARCH 6TH. manyvoicesdarfur.blogspot.com. BE THERE AND LEAVE A COMMENT TO SPREAD AWARENESS ABOUT DARFUR.

So, Steven Spielberg dropped out of the 2008 Beijing Olympics because of the Darfur conflict. GO STEVEN! In other news, BUSH WILL NOT SEND TROOPS TO DARFUR. {which makes no sense} because ‘ll send troops to Iraq! Whatever.

Frederick Douglass son.

15 02 2008

In the 1800’s this black man called Frederick Douglass was born and he would grow up to be an awesome women’s activist and a great writer. He had his own newspaper, “NORTH STAR”, and he would change the world through his brilliance. Abraham Lincoln even called him, “the most meritorious man if the 19th century! He was also so committed to being a womens activist that the day he died, he went to a Women’s Activist meeting. He was a great man.

NOTTE AND LUMIERE.

10 01 2008

Our project on the twitter story is going really well. It’s going to be about a bunny named Mathias who is the ruler of a town called Notte. He’s really mean and make the town dark and gray and scary. Then a doggy named Zuko comes to the town and tries to befriend Mathias. At first, Mathias doesn’t buy it. After Zuko tries again, Mathias begins to open up and all the scary things melt away and the real town comes to life. That’s where we are in the project.

UTOPIANIMAL FARM.

8 01 2008

My group is making a twitter story about a Utopian society (perfect world) and it is going to be about a bunny named Mathias. Pretty WiCKED. Our project has a lot to do with Animal Farm because in the book the animals want to make a Utopian society and our story is about a Utopian society.

My role in the project is the colorer. (if that is a word). I also will be doing some research on allegories and Utopian societies.
